Avignon, hosts the worldwide renowned International Theatre Festival each year, abounds of cultural, gastonomic places within and all around with exceptional landscapes. Discover in the heart of the city, the “Rue des Teinturiers” (dyers street) a XIth c. paved road where attractive art galleries and coffee-shops wait for your venue.
Walk around the “Place Pie” and discover its typical Provençal market place, the majestic Rhône river and the famous bridge (Saint-Bénézet Bridge) where “l’on y danse, l’on y danse !”.

Means of transport
With 5 millions visitors a year, Avignon is equiped of wide road, rail and air networks linking the city to the rest of the world.
By Train:
– De Paris Aéroport Charles-de-Gaulle (Roissy), un TGV (train à grande vitesse) toutes les 2 heures jusqu’au Centre d’Avignon (durée: 4h)
– De Paris-Centre à Avignon(Gare de Lyon), un TGV toutes les heures (durée : 3h10mn).
– De Milan, Francfort, Madrid, Bruxelles, TGV direct pour Avignon avec des fréquences et des durées variables selon les villes (durée du trajet pour Bruxelles : 5h45)
– Des principales villes de France, TGV réguliers jusqu’à Avignon (par exemple, Toulouse-Avignon Centre en 3h50)
Important remark: Avignon-Centre station is at a 10 mn walking distance from the City centre and of main hotels. A train-shuttle in 4 mn travelling links Avignon-Centre station to Avignon-TGV station (get it on the same platform if coming from north).
By road:
– Highways from Milan, Turin (430 km) and Barcelona (450 km) and Valencia
– Highways from/to Paris, Lille, Bruxelles
By air:
Direct flights for London, Birmingham (Ryanair et British Airways) and Amsterdam. Frequent and air links with french regional cities.

Hôtel Mercure Palais des Papes

Very comfortable Hotel situated at 1 mn walk of the Popes’ Palace (Price: 140€, breakfast included).
Horloge Hotel

A comfortable place (99€/night breakfast included) close to the Opera and the famous “place de l’Horloge”. A nice glass roof place for breakfast, at 2 mn walking distance from the Palais des Papes. May receive disabled people.
Regina Hotel


Hotel recently renovated proposes 59€/night (without breakfast). Its roof terrace offers a nice view on the whole city.
Cloître Saint Louis Hotel

A very comfortable hotel situated inside an historical building of the XVIth c. with a refined decoration and close to the medieval fortifications of the city (99€/night breakfast not included). An exceptional place at a only 10 mn walking distance of the conference place!
HO36 Hostel
